Description
GHK-Cu (Glycyl-L-Histidyl-L-Lysine-Copper) is a naturally occurring tripeptide-copper complex first isolated from human plasma in 1973. GHK levels average 200 ng/ml at age 20 but decline to approximately 80 ng/ml by age 60, a reduction that coincides with decreased regenerative capacity in aging organisms.
Research has demonstrated that GHK-Cu stimulates collagen, dermatan sulfate, chondroitin sulfate, and decorin synthesis, while also modulating metalloproteinase activity — acting as a key regulator of wound healing and tissue remodeling. Its ability to improve tissue repair has been demonstrated across skin, lung connective tissue, bone, liver, and stomach lining, and it stimulates blood vessel and nerve outgrowth.
Studies have established that GHK-Cu is capable of up and downregulating at least 4,000 genes in the human genome, effectively resetting gene expression toward a healthier state.
